Welcome to the opening of what promises to be a wonderful school year at Jefferson Primary School! At this time of the year, there is great anticipation of what is to come, and I am as excited as the Jefferson Primary teachers, children, and parents. Why? I am excited because I get to return to my hometown in this new position as principal. I went to 4-12th grade in this district and believe in the student's and staff in this educational system. After graduating from JHS, I went to the University of Texas in Tyler to complete my formal undergraduate education as well as graduate school. Since graduation I've worked in other area districts, but I know this is where I belong. I truly believe that my education and experiences in this district shaped my future, and I want to be a part of shaping all of your children's futures as well. I am honored to have the opportunity to return to Jefferson and to be part of this wonderful school community.
Together, teachers, students, and parents/guardians will make a strong JPS family. We appreciate your support as your child enters the classroom, learns, and grows through the year. Let’s all commit to having a good school year, setting everyone, students, as well as teachers, up for success.
Throughout the year I look forward to meeting the new members of our community and connecting with returning community members. I encourage families to get to know each other so that we can build new friendships and support each other as the need arises.
A few things to make our year go more smoothly – first, please help us to be good neighbors. The traffic flow around the school will be changing this year. We ask that parents turn on S. Willard street on the east side (close to the feed store) of the campus and make the complete circle around to our Crawford street drop off point. Car riders will not be received through any other doors on campus, unless a parent is actually signing in a late student. We ask that students only exit on the passenger side of the vehicle that will be closest to the walkway, in order to preserve the left side of the drive for passing vehicles. Students who want to eat breakfast need to arrive between 7:15-7:40 in the morning. Please help us get students here, fed, and ready to learn by 7:55. Another way to help our year go smoothly is to check your student's take-home folder each day. Teachers and I will use the take-home folders as a means of communicating with you throughout the school year.
We are ready to begin the 2017-2018 school year! The teachers have put a lot of time and energy getting ready for the year through teacher training and working in their classrooms, even when they didn't have to. Having spent a lot of time up here this summer, I have been impressed to see the dedication of our staff, preparing all summer for the school year. At Jefferson Primary, the staff, faculty, and administration are honored that you entrust us with your precious ones. The hours that your children are with us each day are so important. Here’s a great school year!
